Cambodia.

I've swapped Australia's dry heat to rain season in Cambodia. It's amazing! Eventually something new and exciting!

We started of in Phnom Penh, the capital, and stayed there for four nights. The guest house was alright, the room wasn't a dream but the roof top bar was a big plus. We tried to do the "must do" touristy stuff but we only managed the royal palace, the national museum and the killing fields. The royal palace was a bit of a disappointment, the fee was 6$ each and we could basically just see the yard. The museum was alright, but because of Cambodia's vicious past they only have a couple of broken statues. Of course the killing fields weren't fun but I think it's something that one should see if one goes to Cambodia.

After Phnom Penh we went to Sihanoukville, a city on the coast. It's an alright town but it's rather full of tourists. We met a nice German girl with who we went to Koh Rong, a paradise island two hours from Sihanoukville.

Since it's rain period it was raining cats and dogs all the time, but we still had a good time, met nice people and ate tasty food. The first night we met a Pommey who told us about fluorescent algae so we went for a night swim. The water around us was shining with green light as soon as someone moved. We tried to take some pictures but no, you have to experience things like that.

Now we're back in Sihanoukville, we will be stuck here for a few days for various reasons. After that we'll go back to Phnom Penh, Bernie is so keen on shooting with an AK47. I'll tell you more about that when we've actually done it!

The connection is to bad for uploading pictures, sorry about that.

When the next wave broke the wall that Bernie had built we started digging a ditch behind it, but we soon figured that wouldn't be enough. The cliffs that we walked through to get there where already under water and we could no longer escape the rising tide. We moved our tents to the highest spot on the beach and started building a high dam. Behind that dam we dough a deep drench and sat down to enjoy the remains of our chocolate.

Don't for a minute think that this was the end of our night. We had barely finished when we had to redo the wall and clean out the drench. My cloths where dripping of water from the knee high waves and my feet where aching against the cold sand. We dug for hours with only short brakes to catch our breaths. Around midnight we gave up and sat down. We where too tired to care if our tents got flooded and float to sea. From that moment not a single wave broke the wall and the tide went out.

30/6-12

It was a warm and sunny summer day and we had bought ocean trout for dinner. Bernie, Adam and I had been driving for most of the day and we decided to stop at a rest area next to the beach. We walked around and found a nice little spot to camp, on a small part of the beach that was shielded of from the rest by big rocks and cliffs. We ate our dinner and had a few drinks until the beautiful sundown forced us to build up a camp.

It took us quit an effort to get all our gear over those big rocks and cliffs but when we finally managed it was perfect. The moonlight was so bright it could have been daylight and we sat on the sand drinking hot chocolate, listening to the waves.

Around seven the waves started to come a bit too close and Bernie put up a small wall of sand around the tents. We where soon to realize that our perfect spot was about to get flooded.

There has been so much going on for the last few months, and I have so much to tell you! Right now I'm living in an ag-grow site in a tent that I share with Bernie since three months. I've become a real camper! I've survived flooding and rain periods with Irishmen and I've been standing on a jetty in the rain forest seeing the sun go down over the ocean. But all of that you'll read more about another day because now I'm going to bed, it's been a long day. I'm alive and kicking and that my friends is all that you need to know.
